Les Fonts dAlgár

Les Fonts d'Algar, located 15 km from Benidorm, is a nature destination that preserves ecological wealth while providing tourism services and environmental education. The area was declared a wetland protected by a government agreement with Valencia, since September 10, 2002. The visit here is advantageously combined with the visit to Guadalést, as it is on the way down to Benidorm. You can set aside 2-3 hours with advantage. for that stop "on the way home".

Going up Guadalést is well suited in autumn and spring, in good weather. If it's a hot day, the stop at Les Fonts d'Algar fits in well, as the springs are cool. It is a very spectacular experience with magnificent nature.

What do you do?

The visit consists of a 1.5 km round trip along the river Algars ("cave" in Arabic) channel. Where you see the landscape derived from the limestone-karst modeling (a kind of ridge through which water seeps and is purified). There are several things to observe;

  • The spectacular waterfalls

  • The many springs that flow out of the rocks

  • The water reservoirs where you can take a refreshing bath with clean and crystal clear water, these are considered a "source of health"

  • The old pond

  • The impressive canal and the centuries-old ditches that are still in use today.

Facilities in the area are; Tourist office, parking spaces, toilets, first aid, Arboretum (tree and shrub planting), picnic area and camping, Dino Park Algar and approx. 5 restaurants.
