Tabarca
The island of Tabarca is located about two kilometers from Alicante in the middle of Santa Pola's cape. With its 1,800 meters length and 400 meters width, it is the largest island in the Valencia region and the only inhabited one.
Tabarca is a wonderful day trip from Torrevieja, Santa Pola or Alicante - where the excursion boats depart from. The old pirate island where North African pirates ravaged during the 18th century. With wonderful swimming and snorkeling, as well as suitable for various water sports.
At Tabarca there is a large variety of small eateries, which offer traditional seafood (fish soups, paellas with seafood, etc.). In addition, there is a museum here, which is well worth a visit, beautiful verandas, buildings such as the Governor's House, San Pedro and San Pablo Church, etc.
